Zombie Bites New Abstract: Winter

This is the essence of my life for the past two years.  On the surface, things have become frozen, coagulated into an icy hinterland.  Winter has set in.  Beneath the surface, my waters boil for freedom and release, a fiery urgency focused on moving forward.  Every choice, every motion requires twice as much effort and energy to accomplish.  Amber like circumstance has become impossible to dissolve.  I struggle for possibility in an ever tightening circle of dead ends.

Self Portrait: This Has Always Been Within Me

Due to the recent ingress of Pluto into Capricorn, it would seem the Universe wants my molten core raw and exposed.  Despite my reservations, despite any resistance on my part, my illusions continue to drip away like overheated wax.  I'm forced to allow it, because... well, it's the Universe.  You can say no, but it's wasted breath.  All you can do is manage the pain and shake your fist at the uncaring sky screaming every expletive and curse you know.  Many have questioned this action on my part, but I think that it is important to lodge a complaint even if the boss is the system / Universe your immersed in.  At least if anything else, they will know that you did not bow willingly.

Autumn Equinox: Persephone's Descent

Today is the Autumn Equinox, the temporal and celestial midpoint between the Summer Solstice and the Winter Solstice.  Here in the northern hemisphere, from now and into winter, the days grow shorter and the nights grow longer.  This is the beginning of the dark half of the year.

Soulsplitter

This summer is relentless. The Pluto / Uranus square has taken no prisoners and this heat is scary.  Untenable situations abound, but the Soulsplitter is unconcerned. It performs its duties with the consistency of the sunrise, and I fear it isn't done with us just yet.

Friday the 13th: Vault of Shadow

Here's a little dark nugget to entertain on what promises to be at the very least an interesting Friday the 13th!  Over the next two days we have Uranus going retrograde as well as Mercury going retrograde.  This promises a certain level of intrigue as just a regular Mercury retrograde is usually enough to facilitate a great deal of mischief.  Enjoy the ride and try to hold on to your tempers as this is going to be a bumpy weekend.

From the Sketchbook Archives: The Gateway

Here is another sketch for a larger piece.  I had a vision of a large arched gate that a dark river ran beneath.  My initial thought was of the Moon card from the Tarot, but upon time and reflection, I think this may be an incarnation of the river Styx and the entrance to the Underworld / Realm of Hades.  Considering the time frame during which this sketch was created and Pluto's inevitable ingress into Capricorn (my sign), Styx seems very likely.  Also, the two guardians are very much like grim reapers.  Of course, both visions can be true.  Intriguing.

Changing Course

When I originally started this blog, it was simply to display my general artwork.  At that particular point in my life, things were fairly dark and bleak, so that was the theme that I chose.  Things have changed somewhat.

Zombiebites will still be the home of my shadowy works, but I will no longer be posting anything other than my darker pieces here.  This will now become the home for my horror works, my works involving fear and darker emotions, for all my Dark Arts.  I'm going to leave the older pieces that are not of the horror genre intact to avoid any kind of confusion or complicated relinking.  From this point forward though, Trail of Bread Crumbs will host all my work that has a spiritual and philosophical bent and EXP3 will host all of work focused specifically on graphic design.

I will have to consider if this blog is going to receive an adult rating though.  If I am truly going to explore my shadows in this space, I may need to apply that filter as in the shadowy realms things can get a bit...unpleasant.  We'll see what time brings.
