From The Sketchbook Archives: The Gate

This was a sketch done the same time as He Who Bears the Fury.  This became a finished painting as well.  After a botched attempt at changing the main colors of the painting, in frustration I painted over the entire piece.  This sketch is all that remains.
This piece represents one my first serious forays into my personal darkness.  I think during this time I strayed close to an entrance to deeper understanding and this red hooded creature was the guardian of that gate.  Looking back, I think I knew what was developing in my life at the time and that beneath me a great pit was yawning wide.
