Here
we have the grim vision of a revenant head emerging from a
cloud of darkness. Shriveled with hate and age, it measures us with its
baleful eyes.
Inspired by the results from last weeks challenge from Vincent at Fuzzy Skeletonian, I decided to return to photoshop with this weeks creature for another round of shadow play! I hope you enjoy the result!

Love both versions. To me the original looks like he's emerging from the soil of a grave. The gritty high-contrast is great.
The shopped version really lends itself well to the spirit beginning to pass through my monitor and OM NOM NOM my very soul!
I'm with you...I really enjoy both versions here. I tried and tried to add tones to the top piece, but it wasn't until I went ghostly and inverted the background that I was able to make any progress with the toned image.
With the original version, I was kind of imagining the face coming out of a decayed hole in space-time. I'm with you on the soil of the grave. He does kind of have a smell doesn't he. eep. In the shopped version he has become an energetic form...vaporous and will-o-the-wispy.
This one and the recent Jack piece both have the problem with the tones competing with the existing crosshatching. When the values are already so heavily established, it becomes more challenging to add greyscale. However, I am grooving on where the finished product has ended up.
