Saturday Sketch: Bloodwynd
Here we have Bloodwynd, from Dan Jurgens' run on Justice League. I've never had much interest in the character, but he is a magic user in the DCU and I did have fun drawing him.

Saturday Sketch: Silver Age White Witch
Until I began doing research for this piece, I was unaware that Mysa Nal, the White Witch from the Legion of Superheroes, had a different appearance previous to her early 80's albino look.

Saturday Sketch: Mervyn Pumpkinhead
Second amongst this month's Halloween themed Saturday Sketches, we have Mervyn Pumpkinhead from the pages of Sandman. I've always like Mervyn. There's just something about a smart mouthed cigarette smoking pumpkinheaded scarecrow!

Saturday Sketch: Silver Age Cain
Here is Cain from the House of Mystery. I first met Cain and his brother Abel in the early issues of Sandman, but they both appeared long before. Doing my research for this piece I never realized that Berni Wrightson was so involved with the House of Mystery. I also did not realize that it was such a long running title. I've got some back issue tracking to do. :-)
Also, this piece is much larger than the normal Saturday Sketches. I was in a groove when I began working on it and before I realized the size difference I was mostly finished. So this one isn't sketchcard size.

Saturday Sketch: Classic Morpheus
Here we have DC Comics' Dream King, Morpheus. I started out drawing this in a very standard comic book style, but half way through, Morpheus took over and everything became much more muted and lyrical.

Saturday Sketch: Classic Etrigan
I've always been fond of DC Comics Demon, Etrigan. I was first introduced to him in Matt Wagner's limited series in the early 80's. It wasn't until much later that I read some of the Kirby stories. It is always a dark treat whenever Etrigan shows up. He's nothing but trouble.

Exhumed: DC Comics Manhunter
I'm angling more and more of work towards comic book themes and imagery with the Saturday Sketch and other future posts. Although this piece does not specifically have a horror theme or imagery, I wanted to share it for the coloring aspect. I promise next time we will return to our previously scheduled horror. :-)
