Cloak of Transformation

A dancing shamanic red witch evokes the power within her cloak of transformation, equivocating the base nature of things to reveal a greater understanding.  All aspects become suspect in the whirling: arriving or leaving, male or female, matter or energy, human or spirit or animal.

Featured Creature: One-armed Male Zombie

Here's another decaying undead shambling from the darkness. This one used to be male before the change and has more of an appetite now, or perhaps he is just waving to say hi or reaching out for a hug.  I'm not sticking around to find out.

Here is an unfinished digital piece.  This was my attempt to express a difficult situation several years ago where I attempted to reconnect with an old friend who wasn't as friendly as I remembered.  I never finished this piece and I did not reconnect with the friend.

Featured Creature: Female Zombie

Ah, Lay's potato chips and zombies:  You can't have just one.  Hot on the heels (so to speak) of the crawler from last week we have a female zombie shambling from the darkness and into light.  The outbreak is underway!

Featured Creature: Crawling Zombie

This piece focuses on one of things that freaks me about zombies, other than the crawling-around-with-no-legs part.  Unlike many others denizens of horror, zombies can be out in the daylight.  They don't care about day or night, legs or no legs, they are only focused on the 24 hour diner called YOU.  Yeesh!  Watch your ankles.

From the Archives: Expulsion

This piece is only a quick sketch of a much deeper thought.  I am fascinated by the act of expulsion in association with high intensity states of being: Illness, Rage, Grief, Love, Lust, Birth, Death.  All these states of being inevitably lead to the body expelling something from some orifice.  I suspect that in my future there is a piece involving vomiting or some other form of expulsion.

Here's a hauntingly familiar face.  I should have known that once I broke out my pens, it wouldn't be long before Jack showed up.  Something about an revenant spirit with a flaming Jack-O-Lantern head and a bat cloak. What's not to love?

Into the Spirit Pot

The spirit pot becomes a doorway deeper into the Underworld of self.  Condensation, manifestation, coagulation, mummification, crystallization: it is the coalescing of the soul, the vortex of becoming. We are pulled into its tiny vacancy, forced by proximity to become all that we truly are.  For better or worse, within the spirit pot our essence is distilled and all impurities are laid bare.
